New Beginnings

Newsletter #1

New Beginnings

(November 2021)

This should be a newsletter for 1st January, because it’s all about a resolution, the turning over of a new leaf, a commitment to getting done that which needs to be done.

I’ve been talking the talk about this novel for a long time now. I’ve written some chapters. I’ve dreamed about writing some more. But it never seems to happen.

Lockdown looked like an opportunity – all that spare time.

But Lockdown came and went.

Now a New World is dawning, and I’d like it to be better than the old one. So, I shall eat better. I shall exercise. And I shall write this book.

It’s so much easier to create a virtual book than it is to write all those words

Those of you who know me in the flesh might be surprised to see that I seem to have changed my name. I’m still boring old Paul Campbell for everything else in life, but the emergent novelist is taking a new name for himself in this New World. And, for a book structured around a genealogical family tree, it seemed appropriate to use my mother’s maiden name.

Even if I keep my nose to the grindstone, this little project is going to take me several years. If I seem to be letting things slide, give me a nudge. Quite a hard nudge, if necessary.

This is the first of a series of Newsletters chronicling my future progress. I’m already looking forward to the one that announces publication day. I wonder how many Newsletters will get published between now and then.

Please keep in touch. Drop me a line if you’ve any thoughts about what I’m up to. And let me know if you’ve got any ideas for a future Newsletter.

All the best
